Hey john, ive done the lights for splore music festival here OpenDNS and also install the lights and lanterns for chinese lantern festival in aucklands albert park. For the festival we used big stage lighting and aiming the lights at burrs, uplighting from crotches, and lazers going across the canopy to give the effect of a moving light show ceiling. we attached the lights by wrapping the branch with hessian and then just cable ties. Hanging some lanterns also makes a really good effect-esp if it gets a bit windy.also make sure you allow a lot of cable to allow for wind movement. We ran ours of big generators-it took a week to install everything.Hanging art projects also look good when lit up in the tree. enjoy it mate, it looks so good when its turned on at night!

Mate, that sounds like a gig and a half.
