Clarks tracks

hi all

 

Getting a new set of tracks for the harvester got 2 options available the terra lite and grouzer lite. Any ideas which is a better option? They are being used for some slope work clarks say terra Komatsu say grouzer.

Are these both the boron alloy steel tracks ? Had a look and the seem to be the billiebollox ! What is the difference between them and the application ?

Usual decision between Flotation vs Traction; what soil you on, what you having on the rears?

 

Also, are you on 600's, 700's? Water balasted?

Yes they are the boron alloy steel tracks. Basically the difference is the traction and flotation but clarks say terra a good climbers and good floaters both 4* yet Komatsu say grouzer are better all rounder at 4*climber and 3* floaters.

I previously used the terra lites and got on really well with them and always did everything I asked of them.

Now got grouzer lites and they are the dogs doodahs for climbing, just been going up 45% slope in the dry, but not as good in soft ground.

What I would go for next time would be terra lites with extra studs (and studs as long as you can have them) as a best of both worlds option.

We are on 6-8 inch of soil turns to slop with a drop of water then down to Flint/stone which is hard as nails.

 

There's nothing on reads as yet but if needed would be chains.

 

On 710 45 26.5 non water ballasted.

 

The 911.4 seems to be a good climber anyway but this is quite a difference in gradient to what we did earlier in month. The wood is big and there's a crap load to do.

Flotation tracks; sure they float but they can't climb for love nor money, studs well worn tho. Chains on the other hand are flippin awesome altho I can't help but fancy trying a single wheel track; easy to fit but not very forgiving I'd imagine.

 

As above, go customised with stud number / pattern to suit.

 

Are you on ELS or TRS fronts?

I run forest riders on the front which are the tractor tread apparently different to trs not that I can see it.

 

Am edging toward the terra with an extra stud.

 

The single track does look a good option.

It's done the tracks are ordered. Set of 28mm terra with the additional stud welded on so every track has 2. Hopefully they will climb.
