I have to say, I've never felt a pickaroon shaped hole in my life. I've recently started using some large husqy timber tongs and they are definitely doing my back a world of good. When would you use a pickaroon rather than tongs?

To be honest Peat up until now I've not felt the need for a picaroon or tongs. I've just been humping logs around. Never had any bother. The thing is I whacked my back on my car boot three months ago and its not been right since, getting slowly better though. As its getting towards log shed filling time of the year I'm a little concerned that the back won't take the punishment, so I'm looking for a way to lighten the load.

I feel your pain. I've been suffering from a bad back this winter too, and i've got a hell of a lot of timber to shift. I'd used timber tongs in the past but never owned any and had kinda forgotten them, but I had some guys working in the woods with me and one had a set of the big husqys and it helped so much so i've grapped a pair. Great for dragging, lifting and stacking.

Use the hook for just dragging and tongs for when an end needs lifting. More bending required using tongs. I didn't know I needed them until I had them :001_smile:

You're a fine one to talk Mr "two acres"!!

I've only managed to fill the scabbard once. That was straight after setting eyes on the new double headed felling axe from Buttmunch and Bannister:o

Oh dear, I can feel a new euphemisim gently entering my lexicon - 'To fill ones scabbard'
