I think in this profession we've probably all had moments that when the tree,branch or log has hit the deck and we've had a minute to think about whats just happened and thought "god im glad that went right"....generally dont do it twice though? haha

if so i recon your hinge was 2 small which is prob why it snapped

 

It was bob yes and i agree with what your sayin about the hinge and also what skyhuck says about the sink needing bein more open faced. To be honest its very rare we get to actually fell a large trunk or tree! most stuff is in a tiny back garden with no room to swing a cat nevermind fell a tree!
