Have you used an 880 all day?

Which is why he needs either a 395/661 AND an 880.

Me "I need a big saw"

Wife "Which one are you buying?"

Me "Welllllllll, I checked with the guys on Arbtalk and they recommended I need two saws. That way I don't get a sore back, have less risk of getting HAVS, use expensive fuel more efficiently and therefore be able to buy you more chocolate and clothes"

Wife "Those guys on Arbtalk are really worth listening to I guess"

Hi Jon, running a 28" on my 576, so holding off on a 661. 36" bar on the 880 is nice for quick ringing up of the bigger stuff with the 48" as back up.

I liked the transit analogy earlier. Why make a wee saw scream when a bigger beast can do the job with ease.

Hi LGW no LGW but if your having use it all day you must have tons of butts around thanks Jon

Only ever once Jon I was in the same position as Rod had a 660 but thought I needed an 880. Yes it's a beast of a saw but what a cumbersome beast it is all day cutting big 3ft plus stuff knowing that your going to spend the next week through a splitter.

Not for me

It is surprising Miker's comment about a skip chain was not picked up and progressed. I understand many Americans use a longer bar and full skip chain on a lighter smaller saw for reduced weight when transporting by foot in the woods, reduced pressure on the engine and reduced sharpening time. I calculate that a 36inch 3/8 full skip chain has as many teeth as a 28 inch standard chain. I understand that semi and full skip chains are no longer available in Europe, but they can be be landed in the UK from the States for about the same as ready made standard chains sourced here.
