Balance point rigging a limb

In the original is there any reason why you would not hang the rope on the thick end and let the weight take it down on a job like that ? It wouldn't kick back at you and there looked like plenty of room to lie it down when it reached the ground. Not being a climber or actually a tree surgeon I wonder about these things.

Peat, if you mean my short vid, the limb went way over the roof and had to clear that, so tieing the rope off in the middle enabled it to be taken off in one...

No Mark - its all well judged - the rope was placed to get an even balance - the size was ok not too big a branch - tree species ok for this type of task- and I presume a side cut without a face cut slowish

Haha, yes Paul, I was trying to wind Benn up, and failed as usual!

 

Really good skills there, smoothly done.
