A few years back I went from Durham to Ealing Broadway in London to Dismantle three trees. Took two days but the money was excellent and we got a tip and an extra job on the way back...it took a very long time to get there and back but it was a lot of fun and it adds diversity to your work.i have been offered a weeks work in France in the Spring and I shall be driving there also.It all adds to your experience and pushes you.

I'm heading over to aberdeen next week, have work On Mull, in Glasgow, Cumbria, Lancashire and Sussex on my to do list. I try to fit it in with weekends away, but if you can include the travel/accomodation in the quote, leave logs and chip on site, and price the jobs from afar, then I'll cover Landsend to John O'Groats, wait a mo, I did some mewp work in Orkney a couple of years back;-) I keep meaning to advertise on Islay, to try and line up a works outing to the distilleries!

Wow that is a long way but does sound like you had a great experience. Did you take anyone else with you or do you work alone?

We rarely work in our vicinity as most of our work is commercial.

Having to dispose of chip is problematic factor so getting a lorry once I pass my test.

We rarely travel more than 15 miles. Ocassionaly do the odd 20 mile job if theres enough money in it. Its not just doing the job, when quoting I don't want to travel 50 miles for a job I might not get.

That's what i was gonna say , I'd be quote happy travel a bit further but it's the pricing of the job! Time and money to go look at a job you may never get! If it's your usual area it's not so bad!

Would you not just leave earlier and leave later alowing all of the usable day light hours to be worked?

Would not expect staff to leave home before 6am and climb for day then not get home till late,
