Go on then Stubby how does that one go and yes silky your right it's a split level

Good evening :) a soft Dutchman is where the flat-cut of the gob extends past the point of intersection of the angled cut on one side only (the side you want the tree to move away from) as this closes first and breaks the hinge. This is coupled with an angled hinge, where the thicker side pulls the tree in that direction.

Hi Eddy . so I could use this cut to bring a forward leaner around a bit if my landing area is only small

Yup, depending on size and species, I've done 45 deg with connies and willow (that's 45 degrees of twisting as it falls).

Well that's all the hard work done... Just got to assure the assessor that I know what I'm on about, I'm safe, and I can take down trees (up to 380mm ;) ) safely...

Assessment day is Tuesday but tomorrow is chipper training which basically means the brash I've created this past week is going to be chipped as part of that course and believe me, there's some bloody brash :D

A couple of pics of one of my training partners during today's felling. You can't really see how bad the snow was coming down but pretty much everything was white over in minutes
