That's the problem. I did this a while ago with an old Pantin and the rope leads out right next to the spike.

You must be careful!

I suppose that could be a bonus of the spikescender, given that is placed a little back. There is something really cool about a diy job though...

Used it a few times this week, and I must say it is good, doesn't kick out at all really, unless the rope is at a ridiculous angle beneath the ascender, so far so good, the new spacer for the other side has a HAAS system ring built in too, I'll find a pic
