Dont get caught up on the whole 'it must be arrow stright to go in a processor' talk. Yeh it helps but id still say 70% of the stuff I put through mine isnt overly processor friendly straight stuff. Still easier and quicker and safer then a bench. I didnt buy my processor to do 10 times more wood, I got it to do what I have been doing 10 times quicker and safer. Think of it like that and you wont be disappointed

thanks I reckon your right..im now 48 and not getting younger and axe..and log splitter is taking ts toll on me lol.

do you buy in wood from forestrys?

what machine do you run and is it reliable?

not sure were you got those figures from ?

what I am saying is I would be happy to double my 12 cube a week at £70 per cube 22 cube @ £70 = £1540 .

I am aware that some artic loads can cost £1700 for 27 ton = approx 54 cube when splitpherhaps more?

Two artic loads a week is 2600 ton so equals 5200 cube .

Find the source for your cord first not the machine seem so many lads round here buy a processor then can't get the timber to feed it.

Both the suppliers I used when I started now only cut soft wood and chestnut things are changing in the firewood game the big boys like till hill euro forest have the cord but want 3 years accounts and want you to take large volumes regularly and pay in good time.

ok

I have budgetd for £5000 to £10000

I have always used arb waste or felled my own trees and a tad of luck and buying from local lads..but its gone as log biz from streth to strength but I can no longer use ..axe..hydrolic log splitter and towable circular saw as demand is now exceeding my own capabiltys so its either stay as I am or go over the bridge and processor etc?

I do at the moment about 6 to 12 cube per week

from looking at processors its strait timber otherwise it wont work..jamming up etc?

so it would be buying in etc..and the only way I cann afford to buy in from say forestrys is to be able to process at least two artic loads per week to make it pay as otherwise doing it by axe and set up I have at the mo would not allow it to pay

I was thinking elecrtric or petrol driven as no tractor yet...but a cheap chearfull tractor not out of the question etc

im going to get a loan from council at 6% and then they give you 30% back in in grant so I can either pay £3000 with grant off loan from council or use the £3000 for growth capital ie buy timber in etc...yep about finishing grants soon ..but the gent from council said they would be very keen to lend the money on back end of flow cash projections I have to produce due to yself also wanting to take extra staff on as well..he seems to think he can process the application and pay out in two weeks!!

they seemed to really want to help and also help to prepare my cash flow..presentation so all good.

hpow it works is they or you get a loan pay for machines first then they pay you ;

At least 2 artic loads a week

So over 100 cube.......

Really?

If you want to double output to roughly 24 cube isn't that only about half artic load, or are you stating what your highest output would be?

Also have palax combi mobile with 13hp Honda with belt drive, and the belts hav never been a problem, takes up to 12" inch diameter and material doesn't have to be particularly straight (although it slows you down abit.) I do about 300-400 cube a year and have had the machine since new in 1999 and would def hav another, oh and tc circular over chainsaw everytime😄😄!

Good luck! John

sorry my fault

I am happy at this stage to produce say 24 cube a week...

I am at the stage were by I darnt supply pubs etc as I don't want to let people down by not have stock levels to keep them happy..but joe public I can just about keep up.

I suppose I want to increase and work a tad faster..as I said its me ..chainsaw..circular saw so its getting hard work on me..plus it is growing slowly as a good business ...and but I need to produce more at quicker rates..without killing myself off in process lo

can you give me any links to your machine ?..I would appreciate it loads jhon

It would justify getting a tractor & processor for 22cube a week. You would get 22 cubic meter bags from 10tonne easy.

Get a processor that can handle a reasonable size of log and think about a log lifter, like what you get with the Tajfun processors

ok thank you very much

any recommendations?
