Just treat the pubs same as any other customer, they often don't use huge quantities usually have big burner or open fire. Big logs quick to process😄

Yup you need a processor! I was only doin about 6/8 cube a week when I bought the palax (and the missus thought I was daft) but saved me half a days work every day I had it and no difficulty when things got busier!😄

He is not nick picking he is in the firewood game in a big way and is surprised by your figures as I was. It takes a lot to grow a firewood business in to shifting 50 cube a week let alone 100. It's big volume.

I completely understand where your at and I've been there myself I had got to the point where I could not keep up with demand. So I bought a farmi and then upgraded to a Tajfun. When looking at processors just remember it's better to have one that can cut a bigger diameter.

Machines I would recommend in no particular order are

H p 1x37 /farmi w p36 / tajfun 400 there's jappa or palax I've never used the last two but people on here say there good. Ring the dealers and get a demo set up.

thanks I reckon your right..im now 48 and not getting younger and axe..and log splitter is taking ts toll on me lol.

do you buy in wood from forestrys?

what machine do you run and is it reliable?

Ive got a Tajfun 400, awesome machine. Been very realiable.

I buy in when I can but I dont get sucked into paying over the odds. A lot of my timber is from farm envrio work, hedge coppicing, thinnings that sortmof stuff etc

thanks for advise so far keep it coming

based on my projected turnover log wise any recommendations on a model?

Hi there good luck . Any way here is my personal experiance started with a chainsaw and axe first winter very soon got a hydraulic splitter, then came a palax 600 this was 1995 when wilsons were the agents there were not many processors to choose from then.A very good machine simple to use quick and very reliable, also held there value well and so changed it every 3 years with only the blade to sharpen occaisionly and 2 new belts each year just to be safe.

By 1997 up to 750 cube a winter by 2000 1200 cube and 2003 1500 cube on my own and still just a palax 600 tsve chainsaw and hydraulic splitter so you can grow without a lot of expensive tackle if you work hard. The people who actualy use palax processors are usually very pleased with them, after all they have just had there 60th anniversiary so must be doing some thing right.

After 20 years at it I am still with Palax but it is now Caledonian the agent and Jim Watt there will do you a good deal.It was only last year I bought a log deck as my knees and back were suffering, but you need something to load a deck with so more investment.

As I say this is my personal experiance hope some of it helps.

Cheers Chris.

sent you a pm..

my worries are I am at present working with axe,,chainsaws,,circular saw and using arb waste so all familer to me so to speak

I know they way its going sales are increasing so thus processor looks like a must?

I have been advised at my stage to buy something like a japa 305 towable again told it can produce 10 cube a day?

questions I need to research amongst others im sure:

how much is strait cord to buy in?

were from?

what machine would suit my needs ?

what im trying to do is up production both in stock piles for next winter but also mindefull that the stock pile for next winter is dead money until sold in winter...I don't have allot of capital to buy in wood for processor so im running keen apart from getting grant for processor..one good thing is I will get a separate grant for £3000 so im thinking use this as capital to buy first load of wood?

I still want to run the arb waste side as profits are very good given I pay next to nothing for the wood so it would be daft to let it go and focus soley on processor.

try going verticle splitter before processor if your not sure, you can split 10 cube a day with one of those and no worries about trying to get straight cord. think global recycling with the multitek posted they hire a processor maybe think about this route and see how you get on. to get the best from a processor your going to need a log deck and something to load it with it's not just buy the machine and off you go 20 cube a day unless you have some pretty fit guys feeding it.
