There are several maze gilled fungi, it refers to the maze like pattern of the pores. This is the trouble with common names!

Matt, I think the specific one you're tripping up on here is the 'oak' maze gill.

 

The scientific names for the blushing bracket and oak maze Gill are very similar due to having reference to Daedalus (who built mazes for king Minos of Crete)
