New Kask Helmet

Not sure if this is the right place to put it but...

Just received my new kask lid and am wondering if any one can explain why the helmet scoops up at the back of the head? My old petzl's not like it. I know I'm not playing cricket but the base of the skull is an important bit to protect. IMG_0709.jpg.2b308e4d32ae13117f65a84bae067e06.jpg

Its my first move away from petzl in a decade and it just seems odd not to protect that bit. Can't see it as a problem until an accident. My work mates wife fell off her horse and bashed that bit of her head and has never been the same since. Just seems stupid. Very comfy helmet otherwise.

You would have to be doing something seriously wrong to take an impact in that region of your head!

The way the helmet splays out would secure your head from any fall.

Kask/Stein helmets are very comfy and if looked after will see you right.

This feature has never bothered me at all, but I guess each to there own.

There was a little debate about something I did with a kask Helmet on Facebook, a little inappropriate test and asked for people's views on them! We did all come to the conclusion that you should really consider the amount of UV damage our lids are subjected to. So not all bad I guess. :)

Comfy when dry. You wait till you've been sweating in it and take it off for a brew.

Its like putting a pair a wet pants on your head.

I call it my special helmet.

My Petzl has been great but my heed is too small for it.

Second that, it stinks too! I replace the liner every month or two but it adds up ££££££.
