i just finished my 38 and 39 , and I wondered is it worth changing over to that system or is it more hassle than it's worth . Up til now if I wanted extra support then I would carry carry a small extra rope or use my ce lanyard.

We used both ends of the rope as our dead ends and and so in effect had 2 ropes to work off

You mean to advance the tree? You don't use a lanyard

I learnt on both ends of my rope too, can be a good system at times. As soon as I passed cs39 I changed to one end of my rope and a lanyard and have not looked back since.

Yes Tim you understood what I getting at . Hi Simon I sorry I wasn't very clear . No not to advance but to get myself in a decent work position. I use a hitch climber and use the ce lanyard in the single rope set up to help my positioning.

I'm with you, so on for example branch walk you use both ends.
