Any using map maker pro, just wanted peoples feedback on the software, mainly for bs5837 maps, and plotting trees for general surveys.

AT £270 is cheap.

Free trial for 30 days and then you lose some esoteric features but the gratis version is capable.

 

OS base maps on the site give you a start and then you can render your result in google earth to check a gpx trace for accuracy.

 

It's fairly easy to georefernce photos ont the map (or google earth for that matter) for a report, getting the client to read it is another matter.

Yes you can import DWG but you must have the correct projection and datum set.

 

Never done PDF but would treat them as images then calibrate them using known extents, scales or points and save the image as a georeferenced file.

Thanks for the help, I will try it and see how it goes, not used many software programs before so it's all new to me.

So you can basically add any map as a photo image, the use known reference points to scale and plot trees onto the map.

I don't know, I've only used it for triage inspections for railway and my background is forestry (management plans etc.) so I'm not involved in the preparation of building site plans, just watching the guys once the work is awarded.
