Just done a speed awareness course, 37 in a 30. Anyhoo I learnt that the legal limit for a transit on a national speed limit road is 50mph and 60mph on a duel carriageway. This was news to me, did anyone else know this?

I'm also struggling with the fact that I see bt transits limited to 70 mph our transits are limited to 70mph I work for aney a massive company they strive for saftey if it was 60 the 3.5 ton transits would be limited to 60 but we're limited to 70

So an estate car with no rear windows and thus classed as a commercial is restricted?

 

I always thought it was any commercial over 7.5t or towing, same for third/fourth lane on Mway.

 

A car derived van is not included.

 

If my memory serves me correct, crewcab pickups (Hilux etc) are also not included.

Yes but I think you're forgetting you can get 5.5 T vans which essentially means you need to adhere to 7.5t rules it says nothing about 3.5t vehicles

Your 3.5t transit can do 70 on a motorway, but 60 on dual carriageway, and 50 on single carriageway.

OK, thats weird, they can do 70 on the Mway, but are restricted on other roads, never knew that.

It quite clearly states that Transit vans must obey the same speed limits as goods vehicles.

Most vans are under 7.5 tonnes laden (loaded) weight and must follow the speed limits for goods vehicles of the same weight. This includes Ford Transit vans.
