So maybe we should all be lower able, single and doubled rope alike.

 

Do you actually lanyard in for every cut that you make? That's a question to everyone.

 

The simple answer is no. But those are the cuts where i deem it extremely unlikely for me to cut myself.. So really its kind of irrelevant.

Thanks for the answer Ben.

However I think it is entirely relevant because it's about being lowerable, or not.

No DdRT or SRT system is lowerable if the climber becomes incapacitated and can't undo their lanyard.

Personally, I hardly use my lanyard at all when making cuts. I'm not reckless, I just don't regard it as necessary if my work position is good and I never cut near myself or my rope anyway.
