Wanting to make some more permanent greedy boards for the truck. Current ones are some cheapo 12mm ply. Anyone used Stokbord or similar? Does it stay flat as the boards would be pretty much unsupported for the length of the load bed?

Thanks

that depends on the thickness, the thinner the board the more it will need supporting. we've used it for cattle gates and it can "belly out" if there isn't enough metal behind it. its very good to work with though, easy to drill and cut and if your metal work isn't quite square its forgiving in that it'll give unlike other materials

Just had a steel frame made up for my tipper and used 9mm Stokbord for sides and roof - looks alright, think it will be durable enough but you couldn't have it without support in middle. Also kept alloy dropsides to support base. 12mm might be better but quite heavy stuff.

Thanks Tommy. Is it more bendy than ply?

It is not really supported as the boards need easily removable

Haha those replies came too fast for my typing

Thanks guys guess it may not be the material for the job.

Mole Valley do it. Quite bendy. I've been told that it loses it waterproofing after a while but that maybe BS. I've looked at it for building chicken houses but it's expensive compared to ply and I worry about it breaking down after a year or 2.

Has anyone used it for decking?

My Ifor Williams needs another new deck and I was thinking of using 19 mm stokbord rather than phenolic plywood.

I don't know if it will bend when hot, or be to heavy.

Any thoughts.

It's extremely heavy. We use it round the farm a lot. Will never buy a sheet of ply again however the 19mm stuff is very heavy but structurally also very strong so it has its drawbacks.
