As long as you charge for the exact amount if fuel you use on top of your day rate I don't see the problem then!!

If some one came to me saying there £??? a day plus fuel they would be passed over. Day rate is day rate for what ever they bring to the party. To many people in this game not understanding what it's about.

No, you build your fuel costs into your day rate. Some days you might lose a bit but most you should be earning from it

I've never had anyone come and do a day for me and use more that 5 lt of juice. When I used to hire my chipper out it was £100 per day and it included a tank of juice.

Most I've used in one day subbing was 12L. It balances out against the silky reductions though

I don't get people's hang up on fuel is??? If you bring a £500 saw and your happy to put fuel in it that you don't know when or how was mixed then crack on but if you care about your gear them mix your own fuel and look after your kit.

 

 

I get it. I bring my saws to work, cos they're fun and well maintained. I won't use the company fuel though, as I use the best petrol and two stroke oil I know of, and I mix it myself, with no crap in the can.

 

I am quite anal about saws though.

Usually fuel is priced into a job, but each to their own lots of business operate differently and as a subby you need to adjust your day rate, be it distance, fuel, longer days and even 30 days payment. I knew who I was working for so I could adjust my price when I needed to.

Day rate hagglers are the worst but that's a rant in its self
