Cool, so you just move the anchor as you work up the tree? The sycamore I'm looking at has a co-dominant leader I was thinking of anchoring into that with a main line whilst removing the adjacent leader.. hmm

I get my top anchor then bring the rope down and use a sling with a steel crab to position where need and just move up the tree. Hope that makes sense

You can but I would start as high as possible and use a combination of butt ,tip and Balance rigging, and do as Gand says.

As Adam says applying pressure to the system is dangerous but it is also critical in getting it to work.

If you want to really make it complicated you can add another pulley or two and line in ,so you can lift and lower bits.. So if the piece goes midway along the line the retrieval line rope stops and the bit can be lowered off the third rope.

I use a set up like the first vid but with a bigger pulley and rigging plate so multiple small bits can be slinged and third line added if needed and the system sits nicer.

But tension is the key or you will be disappointed !
