Why is everyone always obsessed with getting something different?

The 562 is not imported over here because the UK air would cause them to explode.

Probably.

I was thinking along the same lines of 18stoner as you have to choose the model

when updating software but I must admit I haven't tried it, or even know if it's possible to change the 560 software to that of the 562.

Have you tried it?

Or, has anyone been able to remap the software of the autotune saws?

It can't be remapped, the function is simple anyway, saw sets revs at max with WOT, and under load tries to get 8-12k rpm, and sets to idle when no throttle.

All you would need for setting on to the other is the coil and software. But I assume you know that already as a dealer.

It's not about being different it was curiosity to what the difference between the 2 are. In my opinion it's a better saw the the 560. If or when it explodes I will compare the internals to the smashed to poop 560 in the workshop. Could it not be that the 562 is ported at factory like Stihl do with the magnums.

As to the uk air the chap that works for me imported a 372xtorq 4-5 years ago and had a hard life pointing strainers and finally gave up with a bad 2 stroke mix using cheap oil.

As I said, try swapping the air filters over, I'm curious to see if it makes a difference

In a nutshell, no!

Ok, here's my take on it. See if I can make sense.

The 562 is a variant of the 560, specifically for such markets as the US. It's aimed at a different working environment, where cutting big softwoods demands all the stuff the 562 has, big air filter, 3/8 chain, double dawgs, etc.

So why would this specific environment demand all these subtle differences, yet the ecu would be set the same as the 560?

Cheers for the reply.

Although there must be some remapping done otherwise there wouldnt be any updates to the firmware if it operated as simply as you suggest. Im fairly sure the autotune also adjusts the ignition timing which is what I thought the 562 might have differently.

I know how the settings worked but as I mentioned I thought they might be different for the 562 as it shares the same coil, carb, cylinder, exhaust etc.

Anyway, after having a mess about today with our 560 it seems that the firmware is the same as the 562. The only thing I noticed is that it updated the firmware that was already on the 560, it didnt matter if I said it was a 562 or a 560 the updated firmware was the same.

So if there is a difference between the 562 and 560 it must really come down to the size of the air filter as I cant see any other differences that would matter.

But, they have fitter a new carburettor for both saws so if the people using the 562 have this improved carb maybe thats what is helping.
