I have an oxdale splitter which I do 20 odd cube a year on

It does the job, but in my view needs some modifications

The base plate is too small and needs making bigger

The splitting wedge gets stuck in some of the knarly logs I have

A substantial bracket on the pillar would let you push them off using the hydraulics intead of a lump hammer

The wedge could be a better shape too - sometimes stuff gets stuck behind the wedge

UPSUM does the job but could be better ......

I'd really like a " chunker " but cannot really justify the cost .......they look perfect for firing a woodburner running central heating ......bag up the chunks and throw whole bag on at a time .....simples

I don't understand most of the replies posted here !!!!! I would recommend the Mitox 7 ton push with adjustable ram stop. Great piece of kit had mine a year and worked through 150 ton bags of wood. Cost a bit but well worth it. Electric hydraulic and reliable. Hope it helps.

You forgot quiet. Could be a big consideration if neighbours are close.
