Just get a 390xpg with a heated wrap, port seven sorts out of it, jungle muffler, 36" b&c, 372xt carb! Job done!

 

Can no longer get 390xpg in the UK sadly

HI STUBBY is the 395xp a better saw mate more power and more again when ported thanks jon :thumbup:

 

I think so Jon . Its an older design , tried and tested . You can get significant gains from just a muffler mod . (7.2 hp I think) If I had to have just the one I would have a 395 with a selection of bars . But ... I got both so hay diddely dum its all a load of fun ...:biggrin:

390 is not so aggressively ported as its predecessor the 385 . Having said that once its been to spud for some remedial work it is a stonker ! Can be improved even mor with the fitment of a carb from an Xtroque 372 ( bigger venturi ) although I have not done that bit ....yet

 

You no doubt are right that the 385 is better ported stock - and that carb should be a nice upgrade, as those saws are badly choked at both ends when stock.
