Thats a good set up youve got there,i have just got myself a 12ft ifor williams tipper and thats made a hell of a differance on turnaround time and most of all the back ache haha! Thats how i was asking about the tipping loops and durability as i now only use my bags for storing and the drying out period then empty into the tipper for deliveries and keeps my volumes right.

Thanks, we used to slide them out the back of panel van which was a killer and why I now have a bad shoulder.

How do you get a fork lift in there?

Been thinking about filling mine with logs until spring when I start to plant in there again. Can onl;y just get a tractor exhaust under the door frame.

Was thinking to make stillages with pallets and sheep netting.

 

 

The secret is, we're filling the tunnel now for next year. The holes in the base of solid sided bags is based on the "heat rises" theory. The bags must be on pallets though so as not to blank off the holes and allow air to rise with the moisture. With this system we have virtually no mould to date.

 

Here's a couple of pics of the forklift, tractor etc in the tunnel. Sourcing the right kit(a small forklift) helps but not essential. We can easily have a couple of landy tippers in there, tractor and forklift while we process if the weather is rough outside.

 

The hoops are 28feet span and cost £150 second hand. There's 14 bays making it around 120 foot long and the plastic was about £400. Everything is owned, from machinery to the actual yard so not much outgoing.

 

If you're lucky you may even spot some of the "unsuccessful" vented bags in there!😜

has a train weight of 6.5t so you can legally carry 6 x 0.75m3 bags on the trailer and 2 on the truck

 

Ok, I think I get it....

 

Because your plated weight doesn't exceed 3.5t, your Operator License exempt, but your train weight allows you to exceed 3.5t.

 

Crazy really.

 

I looked at a 6t little Issuzu, but would need tacho, operators license and a cpc to drive it.

I will go for a 5t next time which will require operators license, the cpc I was told only required if you haul someone else's goods so will have to look into that.

Nice set up mate I can't make my mind up as to buy a flat bed and stick an hiab on it or a 12ft ifor and put an hiab on that. I might just stick with the tipper and do it next year.

 

drawback with crane on the flatbed is reduced capacity we can only get 680kg payload on the truck but then if you put it on a trailer your limited to tacho hours.
