budget ground saw

the dcs5000 makita looks interesting and is a good price but im not sure if its got the power im after. its more like a stihl 26 then say a 36/44. id like it to run a 20" comfortably. the husky has caught my eye

the dcs5000 may have the smaller bar but what it makes up for in speed and weight is amazing,felling trees twice its bar size is easy and when it comes to ringing up its absolutly brilliant.also with the weight and power ratio its a pleasure to climb with

I can vouch for that saw- used one recently, gutsy thing and well built without the "full pro" price.

thats a good price, but im only looking to spend around the 400 mark. can you fit a standard chain on these makita saws? i see the gauge is different.

i think the makita runs on .325 1.5 the same as a small husky.

Got the 365 as a cheap all round ground saw. Not the best at anything - but good enough for everything. Running it on 15 - 24" bars.

Think I paid about £400 + extra bar/chain.

I go with edenarb on the 365. If you can find one.

 

To skimp on a saw and buy a cheapie may cost you dear in the down time and useful life of the saw. Pay the extra 100 quid now and save many times that later.

No thanks , nor have I used a Dolmar for 18 years .

I would not buy a saw that I could not get parts for in a 10 mile radius of home. Why take a chance unless it's at someone elses expense.
