Hiab trailer. Home made

We're going to build a hiab trailer to tow behind our mog. Our mechanic is going to build it from scratch or adapt an existing trailer. Can anyone give me some advice based on similar experience? We're using it for domestic mainly. Our mechanic is very capable, so the building of it won't be a problem. I just wanted to hear of others experiences, good and bad.

Thanks,

Timon

Thanks Treequip, Our new mechanic used to work for VOSA so he's well up on this kind of thing. What would be our max train weight? It's a 1250ag registered as agricultural....

Thanks

That will be on the plate of the mog but I bet there is a mog'ite on here that has that off the top of his head

If you have time on your hands it may pay search out artic trailers that come off Guernsey . By their laws they are narrower and sort of mog perfect, they do turn up at auctions on the mainland and normally have very few takers which makes them very cheap. The last lot I saw at an auction were 7`3" wide.

Thanks for this... Perhaps an old 7&half chassis might do the trick as well... As we only really do domestic arb it doesn't need to be that big.

We're going to mount the pto chipper on the front so we can tow. It'll save us doing more trips to the tip and speed the jobs up. ImageUploadedByArbtalk1413118729.966012.jpg.00081b90733140db8e20914ea3da113b.jpg
