Who make the best Telehandler.

If you asked the question who make the best Professional Chainsaws, possibly the reply would be Husky and Stihl, followed by 2 or 3 others, then the rest.

 

We are looking to gather data on the pros and cons of small telehandlers for handling containerised timber.

 

I know they have all got their strong and weak points but if would anyone care to put forward their views it would be much appreciated and possibly of interest to others on the Forum.

We have a matbro at the farm but they are now getting old but if replacing it it would certainly only be a jcb

I was advised that many by Merlo's because they are less expensive.

The same engineer said Manitou are one of the best out there.

for a concreted yard, in and out of containers would have to be a jcb teletruk, will fit into a container has sideshift, will boom out like a loadall, but turns virtually on its own footprint, second hand diesel can be got for about 7k.

we have one and once got one wouldnt be without it.

Merlo or Manitou with out a doubt , in my previous life i spent 10 years driving a concrete wagon and while delivering to sites it was always JCBs broke down.

Most of them had the death smell coming out of the exhaust .

That's a very neat compact machine with a small footprint so best on a flat concrete surface as you say.

 

What is it like with 1/2 a tonne at 2.5 metres stacking 3 high?

 

Perhaps it will go to 4 high?

whoa, you'll have to narrow down big questions like that. What price range and therefore new/ second hand? how much do you want to lift and how high do you want to lift it? and finally is it a yard only or a mixed surface workload you'll be putting on it?

Jcb everytime.

Having worked on all makes and models and being unpartial to any brand, general all round winner would be jcb, followed by manitou.

Jcb's are reliable, if maintained properly, if they do break easy and cheap to fix, good residual value and good for easily 10,000 hours plus.
