No Ian, been using a medium one, do I need a deep one??

 

The chisels you have are mainly used for spindle work eg mushrooms, goblets. The deep fluted ones are stronger and less vibration and are better for bowls. The finger nail bowl gauge has the bevel ground at a different angle so it doesn't catch. The wider of the gauges you have are for roughing out only on outside not taking inners out.

Nick i have just got the same lathe as you what attachment do i need to turn bowls.

I'll go and collect it from down the drive and use it for spindle work next time.

 

I'll get myself a big and small bowl gauge, cheers chaps

 

Bearings need adjusting on the headstock as well, there's a bit of chatter in the rear one
