Glow in the dark logs

Just come in from stacking some oak logs and noticed a faint glow from some of them. Little patches that when I put under a light there was nothing obvious to see. It was always on the outer section of the logs where the sap had started to rot.

 

Any ideas as to what might be the cause?

When I was a kid I spent my early teens with a game keeper who's hobby was long netting use to use oak cut from a tree to make pegs that's glowed faintly so we could see where to drive rabbits towards. Never really thought about it until I saw this post.
