Because I dont want to get stuck with the bottles. I cut the tops off and use a 2 inch hole cutter on the liner stops the logs falling out.

I wasn't criticising, DV Fuels are good people and I too would recommend them.

If you want to dry logs, get the bottle as far away from the crate as you can!

 

Drilling holes forget it - unless you wish to grow mushrooms.

 

Load them up and its surprising how few actually end up on the G. If bothered wire the cheapest mesh you can find inside with multistran galv electric fencing wire.

 

You can sell your empty bottles on ebay for £15 -20 each.

I get IBC`s for free from a company that make concrete products, the IBC`s had release agents for the concrete moulds in them and the manager there is happy to get rid of them.

Have a nosey round industrial sites etc and see if you can spot some empties, a word in the right ear and it can turn out you`re doing them a favour.

I also get them free from a big dairy farm, they get their teat dip in them, that's all they ask in return is woodchip which I need to get rid of anyway, happy days.

I put them in a poly tunnel and use them for other stuff including kindling. Not had a mould problem yet but could imagine left outside in the autumn it would happen. Dont seem to get people in this part of the world that just want the bottles got two free ones if interested.

But I am only after the cages, can't be assed fannying around with weird and wonderful substances in the containers.

 

I currently used old slate crates but I keep breaking them with the tractor.
