Another option is the afm 400s (used to be arbro 400) we have just gone for one on a 8ton hyundai. It's being guarded up by forest machine services and should have it in a few weeks will let you know how we get on with it. Been told to expect 30-50 ton a day.

Cutting mostly what?!

 

Mostly 1st/2nd thinning's in spruce and odd bit of birch. How are you finding the purpose built machine? I have been tempted by old Valmet 901's and smaller timberjacks but its just the cost of running the things if they go wrong.

 

50tonne a day would do me fine and if it works out would be looking to up production in the long term

A stroke head is never going to do 50t / day in early thinnings; roller head only if that's the vol wanted.
