who uses waterproofs?

So does nobody else wear waxed cotton waterproofs?

For sure they can be a bit heavy and not for summer days but they've actually been the most breathable waterproofs I've used and they stand up to a lot more wear and tear..

Especially for waterproof trousers, they're only about £20 but you can charge all day through any amount of brambles and not the slightest rip.

Otherwise if it's summer just a base layer works brilliant for me.

I've been using one of these berghous coats for a while now, I got one on sale a while ago. The important thing to deal with the heat issues is to have large underarm vents (Pit-zips) so you can adjust the temperature fast, Goretex only deals with a bit of the heat. You could probably get a second hand one on ebay for a bargain price. they are also good for shedding against the wind. The Berhaus Deluge pro pants are good value too, if you can pick some up of £40-50, again the zips go all the way up the side so you can vent heat fast, it also makes them easy to take on and off.
