That doesn't surprise me one little bit from what i've seen :thumbup1:

Not me either, there are no full service Stihl dealers in this area - only hardware stores that send the saws away for service.

Getting parts shouldn't be a problem anyway - someone likely isn't doing his/her job properly (or have credit issues) in the supply chain, dealer or distributer?

Of course it could happen that a part is in short supply for a (very) limited time, but something is seriously wrong if it is for a long time, specially on a model that is in production.

Maybe the plastic handlebars are a weak point, so they are in high demand - I don't really know, but haven't heard anything about it on any of the several chainsaw forums I visit most days.

Anyway, either the dealer or the distributer should of course strip the part off a new saw, to get the issue solved in reasonable time.

I havent been online in a while guys so an update : The handle came into the dealers Last Monday That makes it 7 working weeks or therabouts the saw was out of action .

As wyk mentioned there were 261s in stock and i suggested a handle swop but just as with the loan saw request absolutely no customer assistance whatsoever .

The 441 anti vibe went again , (around 11 months old ) and while at least the dealer stood by it he said stihl would not cover it again and "i must be using it wrong" .

That actually pissed me off nearly as much as the 261 !! . The only way i could concievably damage them intentionally was to really force it with a blunt chain or rip it when its pinched . As anyone knows whos at the timber game for their living you take a bit of pride in your sharpening ability and have the sense to treat a thousand euros worth of kit with a bit of respect .

The real problem id say is that its on a 25inch bar in fairly dry hardwood all the time , when i bought it i didnt envisage coming across as much big stuff and thought it would mainly be on an 18 or 20 inch . The 25 inch is listed as compatible though .

How can some thing, like ordering a part, be so damn difficult. I wish i had a more reasonable dealer closer to me- for stihl. My local husky dealer has always got parts within 3 days if he doesn't already have it on the shelf, the way it should be!

I get most of my parts from a Midlands garden equipment and spare part specialist, they have been in business for many years and TBH, I have always had decent service even on out of stock kit. The longest lead time was on an FS380 piston at three weeks but it had to be pulled in from out of the country - most kit comes in within three days from ordering online.

The best in the business are Rowena Motors for carb parts - always 24hr turn around and recently wanted an accelerator pump they had no part number for so they matched it from an online link which had images of it - that's damn good service with good value original parts:thumbup:
