Safe working platforms

OK, I'm now leaning towards scaffolding but have no idea what I'd need. If anyone knows their way around this kit can you enlighten me please. I need to speak to a scaffolder.

My latest plan is to build a square structure around the tree butt. Inside space would be 5 ft square. So 4 uprights with 8 horizontals would give me a base for a planked walkway around the tree.

I would need to add a few more poles on outer edge for safety barrier as well.

Does this sound about right?

Not sure on pole lengths or fixings though.

Right! Been a long time comin( work gets in the way ) but finally suss'd out and put up a scaffold, a farmer mate had these old 10ft steel scaffold frames lying about which made life a hell of a lot easier. Stakes in the ground on the corners to level up. Sorted. Just got to carve it now. Gonna start next Tuesday, excited and shittin' it. Biggest thing I've ever done.ImageUploadedByArbtalk1409859703.226992.jpg.0b564372f4c048a169e40eb2e205a517.jpg

Just a little update on this, I finally went with trestles and scaff boards.

Two rows of three trestles, four 10ft boards wide each running down each side of the tree and then five or six boards spanning across the front.

Works well and easy to dismantle and re erect as you go.

I'll put some pics up again once I'm done.

from the original blue out line I thought it was going to be a rude one  looks good. I have a folding scaffold which looks like an auctioneers podium goes about 3ft high and has hand rail. Bought from plant auction for about £80 if you need something for the future but you need to move it every time you want to cut the side.
