small hay baling

We've been paying 50p a bale for someone to come and bale our grass. We scale and row it up ourselves.

Done 800 so far and got enough grass down for another 300 by the end of this week. I am getting sick of the sight of them especially after helping others with theirs too :laugh1:

What baler and tractor do you have. I used to bale in late 80s early 90s with oldish international 440. Averaged 300- 400 bales per hour and the farmer used to sell it at £1 a bale delivered up to 20 miles in loads 200 -250. I managed to load and unload 3 loads with round trip 25 miles one day 225 bales on each load all roped, no ratchet straps then!

Lad who does mine runs a newish new holland baler on his massey 6120, he ran an old international baler til the knotter disintergrated the other year, I used to run a massey 124 baler made good bales but was always a pig for a while once it started a new ball of string.

i have never done baling for others before. once you start word gets round.

i have not got the gear or time but that is all the baling i am doing next week.
