If I used a Zig Zag I'd be confident and they've extended the warranty to 10years for this fault.

Low risk of failure and they're confident enough to replace after ten years of usage. Good enough for me.

How many used zigzags will make it to ten years? Surely the friction plates will wear out before then?! Rendering the warranty a very clever but almost meaningless bit of PR....

Dan dont forget there might be Zig Zags that are rarely used or used less than a full time climber would use!! Also recommended lifespan of metal PPE is 10 years so effectively a lifetime guarantee :thumbup:

Worthwhile checking out Treetools stance. They've temporarily stopped selling them. Treetools stats say that the incidents of cracks they see are more than 2 in 1000 and some aren't being picked up by the climber but rather by Treetools when the gear is brought into the shop.
