When I top up my 530 oil tank up with hydraulic oil even half way up the sight glass italways spues oil out the breather hole in the cap, till the level is just visible at the bottom of the sight glass. It does mention never to fill the tank with the tracks in, which I dont, its also always filled on level ground. Any solutions/ideas? Apart from anything else it makes a mess down the side of the body and tracks. :confused1:

Does it do it as the oil gets warm / hot

Hydraulic oils expand quite a bit when really hot and it could be down to the oil not cooling properly. Thats why machines have big hydraulic tanks to disserpate heat from the oil.

It could be that your oil needs renewing because it also takes in moisture from the atmosphere which will make the problem worse.

Change the oil and clean the outside of the tank if is has a layer of dust and woodchip it may be preventing cooling

Thats odd, as when the tracks are out the rams are extended, I would have thought you should fill the tank with all the rams retracted?

If your topping up with the track out when you pull em in the tank will be over full.

Does the oil spurt out of the little breather hole in the top of the fillercap when machine is running?

Yes it does? Manual says change hydraulic oil at 1000 hours its only done 500 on that oil.
