I turned this pull knob this afternoon it was so good mrs oakman wanted it in the bathroom:thumbup: Then i turned this vase as i had got the hang of it

Soz forgot to say the vase is sweet chestnut burr i bought it for mrs oakman for our 20th wedding aniversary well i buy everything in wood:lol:

A goblet turned out of plum that split so i drilled some holes and weaved sweet chestnut bark in the holes, something a bit different.

Hi Guys, like so many others before and no doubt still to come, I would like to pick your brains. I have a Record DML24X (fixed head) so my turning ability is a bit restricted due to the fixed head and me knowing sweet FA about turning.

Anyway I have some kit and would like to turn something other than offcuts of softwood. What is the cheapest way/place of purchasing suitable hardwood. Would also appreciate your thoughts on training centres in the Heathrow airport area, or maybe clubs.

If this ends up in the wrong group or place, sorry but this is my very first post.

Hello and welcome, you can get some wood off Rob D on here PM him i think the least he will send is 25kg and postage is about £8 ish, youwill need to mail him to double check tho or you can look on ebay they do abit just put in woodturning blanks they are slowly creeping up in price tho.
