Have you got a 12v battery jump pack? That's the way a lot of people run theirs. Charge the pack off the mains, then run the grinder off the pack. If you try running the grinder straight off the mains without a step-down transformer, you'll blow the grinder, if its wires don't melt first.

But I don't know how you would do this safely. All of these things I've come across, have been for a specific appliance and supplied with such. It's not just the volts you need to reduce but the amps too.

 

(Watts devided by volts equals amps.) finding out how many amps the grinder needs, is a starting point at least.

 

Jump-packs aren't that expensive and you can still you use it for its primary function if needed.

I just use the old battery out of my last car which probably wouldn`t start a car now but it takes enough charge to run the grinder, back street garages usually have piles of them sitting around just find one that still produces a spark and your away, they`ll probably just give you it :001_smile:
