I had a roof mount in a Valmet, it had wheel weights, tyres full of water front weights and was top heavy when in the woods, the crane was a 560 tl but my mate has a 560 tl on a timber trailer and it will lift much heavier stuff.

If you are in the woods all the time and the ground is steep then use a trailer crane, having said that roof mounts are more stable than you think, they just feel wobbly..

FWIW I have bought a lot of stuff off wilsons and never had any issues.

and BTW TCD my new tractor was no where near 90k! more like 60.... and .I only bought the crane from wilsons, the tractor was from John Bownes

Personally I would look at sourcing your own tractor and consider having a foresterie or a Kronos fitted or even a epsilon . Jake mounts are also a good idea as the crane can be removed if your not using it thus reducing the overall weight of your tractor . The crane is also a little closer to your trailer and for some reason you gain about 1m of actual reach

I bought a tractor from wilsons, they did everything they said they would, and a lot better than I was expecting, and not from them but just in general and they threw in a nearly new top link.

They have always responded to my calls and that was a £15k tractor, not a big £££.

well I am sorry to report that my/ our experience has been wholly opposite to that. Maybe its because you live near enough to make a difference, and because we are at the far end of the country its okay to fob us off all the time:confused1:
