You knew where you were with points and a condenser though.

My old morris minor used to stop occasionally, no problems, pop the bonnet, tap the end of the fuel pump with the starting handle to loosen the points and hey presto off you go again👍 A wee bit awkward in the middle of town in the rush hour.

Points and condenser fully understandable no smoke and mirrors a lot to be said for old world technology!

Look what happened with the army landrovers when they went to TD5.

Funny how the 300 tdi came back into service

Hi Eldon, so you don`t fancy an auto tune landy then, what saw did you end up with then?

At least with points you could still bump start just on the alt or dynamo so you could always get home, whereas with electronics, a pulsing current or under 9v and your screwed. cheers, lost in the past and looking for a big saw with points:biggrin:

I miss charging the condensers up on a mega or off the coil and throwing them to your mates :001_smile:

I remember doing it once to a Turkish Cypriot whilst working in the UN workshops in Cyprus, he chased me round the workshop with a shovel for five minutes trying to kill me screaming obscenities in Turkish .

I think in remember my mate wiring them up to 240 volts or something, whatever he did they'd explode quite spectacularly!👍😁
