Yeah I see what your saying doobin and id be gutted but the fact that I only run xp oil puts my head a bit more at ease that it wasn't something I've done.

 

Lesson learnt anyway...only new from now on! Like the 390xp I picked up from greenstripe yesterday :) haha

Unless you are buying for the purpose of possibly rebuilding a saw then new is really the only way to go. I'm still looking for the elusive 365 or something similar at a cheap price with an honest description but they all seem to be " stood for ages and possibly in need of a tune " instead of thrashed and knackered but might go again with some work. :D

Sorry I've not read the whole thread. Golden rule we used to abide by was to run dry and put a drop of 2-stroke oil through the plug whole and turn over a few times before laying up for the winter (was hedgecutters in context but obv applies to all engines).

 

With bioethanol in fuel, the run dry is I would imagine extremely important.
