We are running an FS480 with a 4 line Autocut head. It has red 2.8mm cord in it for a week and now has our 3mm yellow round. We are keeping tabs on how many "bops" we are doing a day in comparison to the standard two line with the same cord. This week we had 48 bops of the 2 line and 20 on the 4 line. We can run the 4 line into much heavier growth as well too.

I run 3 mm pentagram or star in my d loop stihl km 100 or 4 mm oregon flexiblade in the jet head on FS460 I find 2 lines best for grass and 4 for thick brush. I find 3mm line in a d loop strimmer fantastic for edging & strimming paths its also great in grass too. it works for me!

You're not working it hard enough if you can keep count of the number of times you bump the feed!

4-way is much better as you say- each bit of cord is doing half the work it would in a 2-way. It reduces line wear considerably and more importantly, greatly reduces the line flex that can cause the line to snap at the spool inlet if retards don't keep it bumped out. :sneaky2:

How do you find the 3mm compared to the 2.8mm in the 4-way?
