I would estimate at least 75% of my work is via the website, which in turn is from internet searches/online listings.

Its the way people find things nowadays, if you want something you google it. :001_huh:

My feelings are it is a way for the client to see you and your work before meeting you, it lends confidence to them. Its not expensive and works 24hrs a day.

1 job in 2 1/2 years from the website.

Do I care...nope. It's too rural. The majority of my customer base buy the local papers, their age range means few actually use the internet. The remainder of my work is word of mouth, or subcontracting for my mates.

Where it does make make an impact is that my website costs £5.49 per month, whereas the newspapers are just over £200 per month.

I think the demographic will change over the next decade, as the younger internet users slide into my customer age group.

We get shed loads from ours selling sawhorses. We have started selling to the US, France and Norway thanks to the site and I'm sorting out Aus and New Zealand at the moment. As hamdogg says you need to be on page one for it to do anything. If it's local clients your after get a site but make sure you have google analytics and a google local business page ( the links with maps you see in the search).

if you do not have a site get a google business page it's free and it'll get in the rankings for local searches!

Just spend a bit of time connecting it up. 96% of the UK use Google to find things

It's all free :001_smile:

This for getting your site fully indexed by google

Webmasters ? Google

This for stats

https://www.google.com/analytics/

(In the settings you can link these together so you get more info on your visitors)

And this for the Local Listing!

https://www.google.co.uk/business/

It's worth an evening doing the above if your first page of Google for tree surgeon "your town" If your top or in at least the top 3 You're quids in.!

I've mates that are painter and decorators / builder who all have been conned by the printed directories saying the trades are all found using old school media when it's just not the case anymore. Even my Gran has an iphone and see use it to find trades. It's so easy now.

Top tip If the above fills you with dread it's a quick job for a developer to sort you should not pay more than an hour at the maximum most and MAKE SURE it's in your account not theirs.
