can i use red sand to lay flags?

Barry not sure if this telling how to suck eggs but its got some useful tips

Pavingexpert - AJ McCormack and Son - How to Lay Flags and Slabs

I always lay flags onto Mersey grit mix with cement. Put some straight onto red sand over soil for a small area and they haven't moved but they are the. Big old 3x2's and are fairly hefty. Red sand becomes fluid if too much water, rain and lighter flags may move so really to answer your question use red sand may = moving flags.

Don't do the spots!!!!

Crack on barrie with your sand pal. 4-1 as stated. Slab / full bed them down though makes it easier to point also...

 

this 5 spot business is crap imo!

 

Preparation is the key. nice level base wackered with correct depth of quarry waste, dont try make it up with your mix!
