I've often read posts about tree health, machine maintanence, best kit and so on.

Here's another thought. Best Kit? the body. Machine maintanence? body care. Tree Health? what about yours!

Personally, I smoke too much, drink too much, eat too much of the wrong foods, do too little exercise and generally think I'll be okay.

Just before christmas I had a colonoscopy, had blood taken and have been put forward for a Barium Enema. I've altered bowel habit and abdominal discomfort which could be the onset of bowel or stomach cancer.

Over the christmas/new year holiday, my cool has been shaken by too many "What ifs"?

What if that was my last Xmas and New Year?

What if I never see my kids grow up?

What if I have to give up work?

What if I have to wear a colostomy bag?

The point is, take care of you - the machine, before it gets to late. Eat the right foods groups and have fun in moderation, if you notice any changes in your habits or generally well being - seek advice. Get Help.

If you are genuinly interested in your health as a treeclimber then there is only one guy to consult in the UK - Paulo Bavaresco.

This is his site -

Is Paulo a cancer specialist. Does he have a mind on how the guts work and how to handle the disease?

No, but he is one of the few guys who has done a lot of research into treeclimber's health in relation to their workplace environment.

You said this, 'I've often read posts about tree health, machine maintanence, best kit and so on.

Here's another thought. Best Kit? the body. Machine maintanence? body care. Tree Health? what about yours!'

What about yours?

Well if there was anything positive to take from your original post it is how there are people like Paulo who are trying to help us understand how our job affects our health.

Some other people may be interested which is why I posted a link to his site. You made your post on a public forum, your words are open to interpretation from the viewers of this forum.

I hope you make a full recovery from your problem.

I'm sorry if you thought I was being insensitive.
