Morning all

Having problems with my husqvarna 550xp saw. Started running rough few weeks back and now it won't idle just cuts out and is a pain to start again once it's stalled. Rang jonsie and got told to reset the carb memory or something but the thing they told me to do didn't work. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please the saw is just over 2 years old and been good for me but beginning to wind me up now

Thanks

If you've tried a carb reset properly, and it didn't work then do the following.

Next time it acts like a pig, take the air filter off and look at the little pipe that comes out into the righthand side of the filter holder bit. If it dribbles fuel or looks like it has recently you have a tank breather issue. The tank breather vents into the inlet so when it functions less than perfectly it causes the saw to overfuel hence run badly/cut out. The carb can do nought to compensate for it has not the capacity to understand the air contains fuel already.

You can't reset the carb without plugging it in.

Check the colour of the plug, if it's anything other than brown, take it to a dealer! The problem may only be the breather, but it may be something worse.

Went to use it today and it just won't start at all being a right pig. Plug was brown as normal but didn't seem to be getting fuel so may have issue going to ring jonsie tomorrow and send it in for work

I've seen 550xp coming in to the workshop fried, same issues. Just because it's electronic doesn't mean you can't treat it like a normal carburettor set up. If it won't idle, it could well be the cylinder and piston score. Take it in to your nearest dealer
