There was a program on a while ago where crows had learned to drop nuts on the road so the traffic would break them open. Then they started doing it on pedestrian crossings and dropping down to eat while the traffic was stopped.

 

Absolutely amazing - more intelligence than some of the 'passers by' we deal with.

Saw on the TV, Italy or France I think, in a park a guy threw bread to a crow, the crow took the bread to the pond dropped it in then caught the fish that came to eat the bread! Pretty smart birds.

 

Jackdaws will take bread and drop it in water to soften it before they eat it.
