Need some urgent help here guys. Got a big walnut just under 4ft diameter. It's in a back garden in Berkhampstead. Needs to be milled by the end of next week or its being ringed up. All my gear is on for repair except my 2ft alaskan. If any body can help please get in touch. Don't want to see this tree turned into firewood. I can be there with my small mill doing some of the smaller stuff and to help generally.

Access for a swing mill or csm but not bandsaw.

Needs to be slabbed into 2" and 3" slabs. Customer has people to haul it out of garden. So milling only.

Please help.

James

From memory 12 or 14 ft. Fair few decent bits if branch which are worth milling but it's the main but which is the problem. It's already in the right aspect and up on 6" bearers. If it's the first cut your thinking if, I can get a ladder there.

Thanks John. He wants it slabbed though. Yes he's paying. I guess you have an 830 so is it possible we could put my Lucas slabber on your mill, as my carriage /engine is in for repair?

What would you charge for the day mate.?

It's a complicated saga. It may well still get milled. I'm just not running round trying to sort it when I'm not getting straight answers from the customer. I will update with pictures if I ever do get there, but at the moment who knows.

Inb ox cleared. Now mate.

Chess pieces might still go ahead, depends if I get a minute or not. I'm currently testing my board making skills with a backgammon set though.
