Anyone use a chopsaw with multipurpose blade to cut up builders/scrap timber?im tempted by the one in screwfix flyer cuts up to 12x3,looks it a bit more civilised than my pto sawbench for scrap stuff.How long would a blade like that last cutting nails and stuff.

I hardly ever used to hit nails, but due to the volume of wood being cut I found that the biggest problem with chop saws is that the bushes would wear out in the motors. Make sure you buy one that you can get replacement bushes for.

I have the evolution one from screwfix, the same blade cuts wood and steel, i have cut 50x50x5mm steel box with it, brilliant! Doesnt cost a fortune either.

+1 for the evolution.

The evolution rage has metal gearing so it will last you a while although it's not that accurate as a mitre saw.

As per previous reply, watch out for parts availabilty - bent the fence on my Erbauer / screwfix mitre saw ( cutting down split firewood billet, few weeks out of guarantee! ) and could not get a new one. Think Axminster may be better at keeping parts for budget machines.
